Seasons greetings to all the terrific 3 Jackson supporters!
When I gave thanks on Thanksgiving Day, I remembered to include all of you who need and deserve public transportation in San Francisco.
Know that volunteers on the Save the 3 Jackson Team continue to work on your behalf and are preparing to continue this effort into 2023. We are reaching out to other local transit groups and stakeholders.
On December 5th, members of the Save the 3 Jackson Team attended an in-person meeting of the Pacific Heights Residents Association (PHRA) to handout our 3 Jackson flyers and obtain more petition signatures. San Francisco Mayor London Breed was the featured speaker at the meeting.
On December 6th I attended the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board Meeting in person and was pleased to see other supporters make public comments as well.
This is what I said to the SFMTA:
My comment today pertains to the restoration of the MUNI 3 Jackson bus line. I am part of a grassroots effort known as Save The 3 Jackson here in San Francisco.
The 3 Jackson route provides residents access to their workplace, medical attention, schools, places of worship and many more necessities. It travels directly to the Sutter Health CPMC Medical Center on Van Ness Avenue, within one block from the 450 Sutter Street medical/dental offices at Union Square and past many senior residences, such as John F. Kennedy Towers off Fillmore Street, The Sequoia in Japantown, and San Francisco Towers off Van Ness Avenue.
More than 300 people support the following statement as evidenced on our change.org petition to Save the 3 Jackson:
The Save the 3 Jackson effort is asking that SFMTA restore the 3 Jackson MUNI bus line no later than 2023 on a schedule no less frequent than every 10 minutes up to 10:00pm and announce the date when the 3 Jackson will be brought back to service.
Two and a half years is long enough!
It means so much when each of you do what you can to let SFMTA know the 3 Jackson bus is still needed when you
· Regularly and repeatedly leave a public comment to SFMTA by dialing “311” in San Francisco
· Email a letter in support of the 3 Jackson bus to the SFMTA Board here: MTABoard@sfmta.com
