Dear Supporters of Save the 3 Jackson Bus in San Francisco,
Today, our petition on change.org exceeded 300 signatures!
It was only 10 days ago since we launched the petition. You are doing incredible work to bring back this bus line!
Also this week, on Tuesday, November 15th, I attended a Board of Directors Meeting of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to make a public comment in person and this is what I said:
My comment today pertains to the restoration of the MUNI 3 Jackson bus line. I have previously spoken with several of you as a participant in a grassroots effort known as the Save The 3 Jackson Team.
Using our email address of savethe3jackson@gmail.com, the Team created a distribution list now exceeding 100 supporters, a Save the 3 Jackson Instagram account that now has 140 Followers, and most recently a petition on change.org that after launching just one week ago is expected to surpass 300 signatures today.
I would like to point out that the two and a half year absence of the 3 Jackson bus seems contrary to San Francisco’s Transit-First commitment to reduce traffic congestion, not to mention the effects of climate change.
More and more cars are on the street without the 3 Jackson transit option by those who need to get back and forth from work, by those who now must utilize ride share such as Uber or Lyft, by those who must now obtain goods via delivery service, and even by those who participate in SFMTA’s Essential Trip Card which places that many more taxis on the street when one bus will do.
Please realign transit objectives with the existing Transit-First policy and bring back the 3 Jackson bus.
I will continue to make public comments in this way to let SFMTA know that San Francisco residents still need the 3 Jackson bus line and I hope you will, too. Find instructions to comment at the next SFMTA Board Meeting here: https://www.sfmta.com/calendar/board-directors-meeting-december-6-2022
