SAVE TALLAWALLA RESERVE
The issue
🚨 RESIDENTS OF BEVERLY HILLS AND THE GEORGES RIVER AREA, WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SAVE TALLAWALLA RESERVE 🚨
🚩 The issue🚩 :
St George’s proposal to construct a massive stadium at Tallawalla reserve would not only take away the benefits provided by the current free facility and worsen the quality of life for residents, but also restrict the use of the area exclusively to paid paterons.
Tallawalla Reserve has been a longstanding and integral part of the community. It serves as an accessible hub of activity, a place where many members of the community partake in leisurely walks, communal activities that use the open grass fields, and enjoy time with their families outdoors.
Tallawalla Reserve is the only sizeable and usable open space capable of supporting a broad range of community activities in Beverly Hills; other reserves have neither the size nor the facilities that it provides. Any loss or reduction of this reserve would significantly worsen the existing open space deficit, reduce opportunities for meaningful recreation, and place additional pressure on surrounding parks that are already constrained in both size and capacity.

🌲The existing shortage of open green spaces 🌲
In 2022, the Council planned to acquire new open spaces and upgrade existing facilities to address local deficits of open space. However, this proposal was ultimately unsuccessful, and the shortage remains.
Georges River Council has even acknowledged a shortage of public open space within Beverly Hills in the masterplan FAQ, stating that “the existing number of parks in Beverly Hills cannot support increased population density.”
As Beverly Hills continues to develop and become more congested, Tallawalla Reserve remains one of the accessible green spaces that residents can enjoy.
🚩The issues with congestion.🚩
Other sporting facilities on a similar scale to the one being proposed at Tallwalla, such as the Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre and the Hurstville Aquatic Leisure Centre, are deliberately located within established activity hubs and supported by appropriate infrastructure. Both are positioned on or near major arterial roads, with Hurstville Aquatic being next to the busiest road in Georges River, close to public transport, with purpose-built parking and traffic controls to manage high daily visitation.
In contrast, Tallawalla Reserve is embedded within a quiet residential area, accessed primarily by narrow local streets that were never designed to accommodate sustained event traffic, large crowds, or peak-hour surges.

🚨Conclusion.🚨
Tallawalla Reserve is more than an open green field. It is where families gather, and children play, where the community connects. Once this space is taken away, it is gone forever.
Replacing free, open green space with a paid, restricted facility would permanently change the character of Beverly Hills and take something irreplaceable from the community. Future generations will inherit the consequences of this decision.
The community must speak up at times like this.
