The issue
Petition for Licensing Permission for Sunset Sanctuary
We, the undersigned, respectfully petition for the immediate issuance of the necessary licensing permission for Sunset Sanctuary, a sanctuary dedicated to the protection, rehabilitation, and conservation of wildlife in Berringa, Victoria. Our sanctuary plays a crucial role in preserving local biodiversity and providing a safe haven for native vulnerable and endangered Australian animals.
As passionate stewards of the environment and advocates for animal welfare, we have worked tirelessly to establish and maintain a sanctuary that meets ethical, and ecological standards. However, despite our efforts to show the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) how we meet these requirements we have encountered delays in obtaining the required licensing to continue our operations. This will ultimately jeopardise the well-being of the animals under our care and hinder our ongoing conservation initiatives.
We urge the responsible authorities to recognise the critical role that Sunset Sanctuary plays in wildlife conservation and support our efforts by granting the necessary licensing approval. The sanctuary provides a safe, nurturing environment for native Australian animals, supports educational sectors to raise awareness about conservation, provides research opportunities and contributes positively to the local ecosystem.
We believe that our sanctuary complies with all relevant regulations, including those relating to animal welfare, environmental protection, and public safety. The delay in licensing (now over two years) is causing significant concern for the future of the sanctuary and the animals that rely on it.
Therefore, we kindly request the swift approval of our licensing application so that we can continue to operate and expand our vital work in wildlife care and conservation.
All we have asked is for support from the licensing department at DEECA, work with us, not against us!
Thank you for your consideration and support.
