Petition updateSave Snappy PetitionSo What's Up with the New Name? Two Theories

The silence has been deafening. After spending weeks hyping up the Snappers rebranding, the team's social media has cooled down significantly (with the exception of a few stadium updates) since fan voting ended on September 25th. Leaving fans to wonder, what name will the Beloit baseball team have when the team takes the field in 2021? While we have no inside knowledge, a couple theories have emerged:

A) As many of you know, the business side of Minor League Baseball is currently undergoing a major upheaval. Major League Baseball officially took over the minors this month, and is now in the process of eliminating approximately 40 affiliates. The new ABC Supply Stadium virtually guarantees Beloit will still have a team going forward, but whether or not it will still be affiliated with the Oakland A's or another MLB team is still a very open question. It's possible Beloit will no longer be a part of the Midwest League next time it takes the field, and instead belong to the independent American Association (like the Milwaukee Milkmen) or the college all-star Northwoods League (like the Madison Mallards). All this business uncertainty could mean the organization is waiting for things to get sorted out before announcing a new name.

B) The other possibility is the team is having second thoughts about the proposed new names, due to overwhelming fan backlash to Cheeseballs, Moo, Polka Pike, Sky Carp and Supper Clubbers. As we have written in a previous post it's not unprecedented for minor league teams to come up with a whole new idea after their original rebranding proposals crash and burn. Is that the case here? We have already submitted two presentations to new owner Quint Studer which we hope he is taking a serious look at -- one to update the Snappers logo, and the other to rebrand the team name but still keep Snappy. We believe both of our ideas offer an ideal compromise: one that gives the organization a chance to sell brand new merchandise, without alienating the Snappers loyal fanbase.

But of course we still need your help. Please help us keep up the pressure on social media and let us know your own rebranding ideas for the Snappers in the comments section below.
