Why this petition matters

Shepherd's Bush Market is one of London's long-standing Markets, established in 1914.

For over 100 years, the independent traders of Shepherds Bush Market have kept the open-air stalls and railway arches open for business, rain or shine.

This loved London market offering great value and proving to be of particular social importance to low-income communities is famed for its broad offering of exotic foods, fabrics, jewellery, fashion and much more.

Many of the businesses within this 100+ year old market are family-run and have been passed down from generation to generation.
The market tenants have strived for many years to raise awareness to protect and secure this exceptional community of ethnically diverse, independent, and unique businesses. However, the legacies of these retail market businesses are considered to be at great risk.

In 2014, Transport for London sold the market to developers. These developers have since sought to capitalise on the land known as Shepherd’s Bush Market. It is viewed that the developer’s intent and actions have caused much duress and damage to many of the market businesses. Even within the initial 12 months of the developer acquiring Shepherd’s Bush Market over 10% of the market businesses closed down, and the livelihoods of the remaining businesses have since felt to be under increasing threat.

The developer’s schemes are viewed to threaten the tenants' security and affordability to remain in the market.

Why should the Shepherd's Bush Market businesses be compromised?

Please sign this petition to show your support for the Shepherd’s Bush Market Businesses Campaign and help us in our battle to protect and preserve these valuable, long-standing, independent businesses.
