Stop the deportation of Chechen refugee Khadisova Selima to Russia!

On September 29, 32-year-old Khadisova Selima, who flew in from Turkey with her three children, was detained in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Now she is in Tuzla .She was told that she had been wanted by Interpol for two years. But in reality, she fled to Turkey because of domestic violence. It is clear that the children's relatives tried to frame Selima, and at their request, work was done to find her. That's how easy it is to fabricate cases in Russia.

Selima is currently in temporary detention due to the extradition order issued by Interpol Moscow, for alleged criminal offence under art 208 (2) Russian CC. Selima is a victim of domestic violence and was fleeing from abusive husband for safety of her children.

Stop deporting Chechen refugees to Russia - save their lives!"

We demand an immediate end to the deportation of Chechen refugees to Russia, where they face a real threat of persecution, torture and mortal danger.

These people seek refuge in our country, fleeing violence and brutal repression.

Historical and political context of the persecution of Chechens in Russia.

For 20 years in Europe we have examples of human rights violations and cases of violence against Chechens.

International norms and conventions that prohibit deportation to countries where people are in danger (the 1951 Refugee Convention and the Convention against Torture).

In the Chechen Republic, gross human rights violations have been taking place for many years, including torture, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions. Many Chechens leave Russia, fleeing political repression and religious persecution. The return of these people to a country where their lives are in danger is contrary to international obligations and the principles of humanism.

We ask Bosnia and Herzegovina to stop the deportation, relying on moral and legal arguments:

human rights and your country's obligations under international treaties.

We emphasize once again that the deportation of the Chechen refugee violates the principle of "non-refoulement", which prohibits sending people to countries where they are at risk of torture or other

The deportation of Chechens to Russia is a violation of international human rights and the principle of non-refoulement. We cannot allow innocent people seeking salvation to return to a place where repression and death await them.

We call on the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to immediately stop the deportation of the Chechen refugee and provide her with protection in accordance with international norms. Each of them deserves the right to life and safety.

We call on the government to stop the deportation of Chechen refugees and provide them with the necessary protection in accordance with international standards. We cannot allow them to be sent back into the hands of those who commit violence and repression.

If extradited, Selima will face a real risk of torture or other ill-treatment. The Bosnian authorities must reject the extradition request and grant her international protection.

Support our petition and save the lives of Chechen refugees! Your signature can help prevent a tragedy.

We, the undersigned, demand an immediate end to the deportation of Chechen refugees to Russia, where their lives are at risk. Many of these people left their homeland to escape repression, torture and persecution. Returning them back to Chechnya means exposing them to mortal danger.
