Save Salmon Bay Marina!

Save Salmon Bay Marina!
The Issue
Salmon Bay Marina, a cherished community asset on Seattle’s historic Interbay waterfront, is under threat of closure. The Port of Seattle, after acquiring the iconic 150-boat Marina in 2017, has allowed it to fall into disrepair. Rather than addressing long-standing maintenance and safety issues, the Port plans to dismantle the docks, displacing long-time live-aboard residents and leaseholders as early as November. We must act now to prevent this invaluable community waterfront resource from being lost.
For many, Salmon Bay Marina is more than just a docking facility—it's home. Over the years, it's cultivated a tight-knit community of passionate boaters and maritime enthusiasts. With closure on the horizon, many face uncertain futures and the loss of their boats, with little to no support being offered by the Port of Seattle.
The neglect from the Port of Seattle is glaring. Since buying the Marina eight years ago, essential repairs and maintenance have been virtually non-existent. Instead of shouldering the necessary work to restore the Marina and working with the tenants on a long-term solution, closing the site is the Port's chosen course of action.
The Port of Seattle's annual 2025 budget is $1.1 BILLION. Allowing the closure of Salmon Bay Marina would continue a dangerous precedent for how historic waterfront property and local community members are valued in Seattle.
We call on the Port of Seattle to halt their closure plans immediately and instead, begin productive dialogue with stakeholders and initiate comprehensive maintenance and repairs to make Salmon Bay Marina safe and welcoming for all users. The Port needs to honor the commitments made to current leaseholders and live-aboard residents, ensuring that they are not unjustly displaced.
Please sign this petition to demand transparency, accountability and action from the Port of Seattle, and help save Salmon Bay Marina from being turned over to waterfront developers. Thank you for your support.
