On behalf of the animals who live at Sailor Bar and all along the American River, THANK YOU for being their voice.  I hope that you too are enjoying this harmonious peaceful retreat in the quiet of the moment.  I’m happy to share with you that we are now having fun with the “PAUSEitive” flow of activities:

In April the Friends of Sailor Bar (FoSB) participated in two Earth Day events at the American River College and at Southside Park for the Environmental Council of Sacramento.  Our theme was, "ONE RIVER, ONE HABITAT.  KEEP HER WILD FOREVER".

Yesterday, the Friends of Sailor Bar Steering Committee assisted Dr. Andrea Willey (Waterbird Habitat Founder) and Zak (Sacramento County Regional Parks Naturalist) with planting willows for the Turtle Pond restoration project.

You are invited to join the fun in the upcoming Events/Activities:

May 4th 9:30 - 12:00:  American River Trees' Walk for the Wildlife peaceful protest at Larchmont Park.  https://www.americanrivertrees.org/events

June 1st 5:00 - 9:00:   Preserve the American River's Trees and Tunes dinner. https://preservetheamericanriver.org/events

June 8th 3:00 - 5:30:  Scenes of Sailor Bar Art and Photography Exhibit opening reception at the Fair Oaks Village Tudor House.  10120 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks.  RSVP to ProtectSailorBar@yahoo.com.

June 20th 6:00 - 9:00:  Benefit for Benches.  Private cocktail party at a home with an amazing view overlooking Sailor Bar.  Enjoy the open bar, live music by Cowboy Hippies, a variety of delicious foods catered by the iconic Chef Baily, and best of all friendships.  All donations will be for benches at Sailor Bar.  Email ProtectSailorBar@yahoo.com for more information /RSVP.  (The first 50 people to RSVP will be on the guest list).

Thank you to everyone who donated.  Your donations will remain in the Legal Fund until we have a permanent agreement to keep the interior of Sailor Bar free of public motor vehicle traffic.  It's encouraging that Regional Parks Director Liz Bellas is working with Paul Miller (President of Sacramento Audubon Society) and Charlene Vine (Founder of The LionHearted community) and others to systematically identify criteria and conditions for a foundation to create a plan for accessible nature trails not only at Sailor Bar, but along the entire American River Parkway.  We are working collaboratively toward our shared goal of making Sailor Bar more accessible to people with limited mobility -- what better way then putting benches along the trails!

Throughout this advocacy, we, the Friends of Sailor Bar have remained focused on making the world a better place for humans and animals, for the environment and for the future.  Any differences in perception, beliefs, lifestyle, politics have not impeded our friendship, nor the one voice that we share in unison, for Nature.

We are planting Sunflowers in Babylon!  Check it out:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsiB9uCMZ68

May Love be our Mantra - forever
