Please join us for an epic WE ❤ SAILOR BAR PEACEFUL PROTEST HIKE. February 23rd 2025, 11 a.m. at 4253 Illinois Avenue. Look for the horses. We will enjoy a 30 minute stroll on the interior equestrian trail (gravel road) that the Regional Parks Director, is planning on opening to public motor vehicle traffic. The hike will end at the riverbank. There will be opportunity to meet the horses, bird watch, have a snack, learn about the history of Sailor Bar, and the issues facing the American River Parkway.
Bring your own signs. Some ideas are: We Love Sailor Bar because its carless and carefree! / We Love Sailor Bar because the animals are safe from getting run over! / We love seeing the deer! /We love the 218 bird species! /We love the heron rookeries! / We love walking our dogs without cars! / We love getting exercise in nature. / We love riding our horses where it's safe without cars! /We love the caterpillars that can safely cross the roads! / We love Turtle Pond!/ We love the quiet of nature without the noise of cars! / We love being at a safe, clean space where animals are safe from cars! / Share what YOU love about Sailor Bar! OR share why you don't want vehicular traffic to cut through the corridor of the animals habitats.
FYI: Thank you to those who showed up at the February 7th American River Parkway Advisory Committee. And for writing comments. I consolidated the comments in a packet that was given to the Advisor and Park Director. Unfortunately, there was not a quorum, and therefore there was no vote. However it was obvious that the Director of Parks had already made up her mind and was just going through the Public Hearing Process as a formality.
Check out this Sacramento County Organization Chart. We are at the top! They report to us! Let's remind them that we the people's voices matter! Animals do too!
Peace and Power to the People and the Animals too!
