Reminder!  The American River Parkway Advisory Committee meeting is tomorrow at 9:30am at the Regional Park Headquarters:  10361 Rockingham Drive, Sacramento 95827.  The Parks Director is presenting her ADA Concept for Sailor Bar.  Included in her plans is reopening of the gravel road from Illinois to the gravel parking lot inside the interior of Sailor Bar.  Motor vehicle traffic is not safe, nor is it a quality experience at Sailor Bar for people with or without disabilities.

GOOD NEWS!  Sacramento County Disability Advisory Commission (DAC) February 4th meeting was community inspired!  After hearing the presentations by the Parks Director,  The Friends of Sailor Bar Bruce Forman/Sacramento Audubon President Paul Miller and community input, the DAC adopted the motion "that the Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks continue the closure of all existing maintenance and emergency vehicular roads in Sailor Bar that are proposed to reopened to public vehicles.  The road closure should continue until a through comprehensive evaluation of all concept plans has been performed."  The adopted motion continues to stress the importance of public input, and to involve the assessments of costs, benefits feasibility, environmental impacts, safety, accessibility for people with disabilities, social equity and aesthetics. 

The February 4th meeting went very well.  We still have two more hearings to go.  Your letters, and showing up to the meeting is critical.  Thank you for packing the room on the 4th!
