Save Rye Harbor Lobster Pound

The Issue

Help our little family business be heard!
The director of Ports and Harbors of the Pease Development Athority controls the activities of Rye Harbor Marina where Rye Harbor Lobster Pound has been operating for 25 years.

For over 20 years Rye Harbor Lobster Pound has been serving award winning seafood (hot & cold lobster rolls, fluffy chowder, lobster bisque, etc) to whale watchers and loyal customers from near and far. We have been featured on NH Chronical, Yankee Magazine, AAA NE travel magazine and are proud perpetual winners at the Hampton Seafood Festival.

The Right of Entry (ROE) is the agreement that is between the state and this veteran, family owned business. In 2017 a formal concession clause to sell our food was added to our ROE.

This year without any health violations or notices, it was taken away from us.  We can no longer sell our amazing prepared food in the Harbor and cannot understand what happened! The business cannot survive without selling our lobster rolls and soups. Several attempts to resolve any (parking/traffic) concerns were completely dismissed. We have tried everything to express how this would put us out of business and impact the community but have been stonewalled. The concession agreement needs to be incorporated back into our ROE for our business to survive.

We have worked so hard over the past 25 years to support the local fishermen, amazing communities across the NH seacoast and YOU (one lobster roll, fluffy chowder at a time)! We have fought through the passing of my mother Itsuko, Mike, seafood industry sanctions, and the pandemic, but don't know how we can make it through this. How can you discard an established family business, especially after this past year, when there are so many solutions available?

The PDA Director of Ports and Harbors (NH Port Authority director) controls this agreement. Please help us let him and other NH officials know how important it is to keep this quaint business serving you by signing our petition and writing to them directly.
