After 27 years serving the community, Route One Cinema Pub in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, is set to close its doors on May 31.

The owners say the theater never fully recovered after the COVID-19 shutdowns. Like many independent cinemas, it has faced rising costs, fewer film releases, and competition from streaming — but for local families, this place is more than a business.

It’s where people gathered for dinner and a movie, where kids saw their first films, and where a community came together.
