Save Ray Walsh House

The issue

Tamworth City Council purchased Ray Walsh House (435-441 Peel Street, Tamworth) in 1997 for $4.5 million from North Power. The building is iconic, impressive and recognised by the community as having historical, social and cultural significance that resonates with the community wanting it to be preserved.

As the Heritage Council of NSW website states, the NSW Minister for Heritage has the power to make an interim heritage order that Ray Walsh House be given a listing to this building as one of the few examples left of the unique Brutalist architectural style, a building opened by the Queen Elizabeth II on March 11, 1977.

WE THE UNDERSIGNED, PETITION THE NSW MINISTER FOR HERITAGE TO MAKE AN INTERIUM HERITAGE ORDER ON RAY WALSH HOUSE.
