I have been made aware that Rathmines Post Office, a vital public service that has served our community for 90 years along with the mails and parcel collection service will disgracefully close. There are also 45 people employed there and An Post's intention is to sell the historic building.

Rathmines Post Office on Rathmines Road Upper is an integral part of our community located there since 1934 that is relied upon by all of us in the community.

Many people, particularly our elderly in the community who regularly use our vital, not for profit, public resource are understandably very distressed by the proposed plans which will be a unimaginable loss to our community.

I am working with members of our local community to help build awareness and support to demand that Rathmines Post Office and the mails and parcel collection service is retained in its current location, to be ran directly by An Post.

We are immediately calling on An Post to reverse its decision and for the Minister, and Dublin Bay South TD, Eamon Ryan to directly intervene to SAVE RATHMINES POST OFFICE, A VITAL PUBLIC SERVICE, IN ITS PRESENT LOCATION for ours and future generations.
