SAVE RAOUL! - Corruption & Misconduct by court officials and Family Advocates
The Issue
As an aggrieved parent in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, I am witnessing the horrifying reality of my child being abused and alienated from me. Tragically, the enablers of this suffering are none other than the officials invested with the duty of ensuring the welfare of our children - the family courts and family advocates. They have been propagating this cycle of abuse, acting as conduits for the abusers and alienators, rather than taking sufficient action to protect the innocent, vulnerable victims.
South Africa ranks high in incidences of corruption in the public sector including our court systems, leading to impunity for those committing atrocities, including those against humanity. According to Transparency International, South Africa scores 44 out of 100 on the Corruption Perception Index (2019). This unsolicited score not only depicts the depth of corruption in our country but also the state of our flailing judiciary system.
In this situation, we cannot sit back and allow such an appalling travesty of justice to continue. It's high time that we hold government officials accountable for their misconduct and change policies that allow these crimes against humanity to occur unimpeded.
We call on the government of South Africa to initiate an immediate restructuring of the family court and advocate systems while implementing strict measures to combat corruption. We demand a swift, fair, and transparent due process for offenders regardless of their positions. Furthermore, we request vigilance and strong accountability mechanisms that protect our children and stop further subversion of justice.
