We are also in need of people who are simply ready, willing and able to commit. The more volunteers we have, the more solid our case, the better our chance for victory! So if you can make a phone call, send an email or do some research, then we want you on our team.

List of Areas we need help...
1. PUBLICITY VIDEO’S
This team will be devoted to making short promotional videos for our cause. They will be in charge of creating a YouTube station, work closely with all of our team leaders, and shoot 30 second promos that address each angle of our cause. The videos should incorporate music, voice over, still photos, and live footage.
The first video (and most important) is to be a 3-5 minute promo that will lead our publicity campaign. The team will spend time in the park filming the wildlife (especially at dawn), the surrounding environment, the open spaces, wide shots of families enjoying the park, kids playing, people relaxing, walking, etc. and interviews with willing park goers.
We have no experience in this area so truly hope that you do, or know of someone who does. We acknowledge that videos will be an essential element to us gaining wide spread attention and making a ‘splash’.

2. PRESS
This team will be devoted to propelling our campaign forward by gaining wide spread attention for our cause. Basically we need to create a buzz!!
We are looking for people who revel in thinking outside the box and enjoy coming up with creative ways to attract attention. Making phone calls and sending emails is a good start but when ignored, what’s the next step? To make a splash we need to gain exposure from the media as well as turn large organizations and people of influence into our passionate supporters.
If you consider yourself a go-getter, like the idea of working alongside our Publicity Video team and want to embrace every angle of our campaign, then this team is for you!

- Plan and implement a ‘splash’ campaign

* Spokespeople
- Connect with the media, relevant organizations, groups, and people of influence

- Writing press releases
3. SOCIAL MEDIA
This team will be devoted to leveraging our social media campaign and maximizing our outreach on Facebook and other well known platforms. Ideally we are looking for people who love social media, have successfully run their own business pages, and understand the psychology behind a good marketing campaign.

- Plan and implement our online campaign

- Create visual content, digital flyers, etc.
* Admin Help
- Research engaging, relevant content
* Copywriters
- Write content, petition updates, and edit existing material
* General Assistants
- Set up and maintain new social media platforms
4. EVENT PLANNERS
This team will be devoted to planning live events such as residential leaflet drives, park gatherings (to spread awareness), local business outreach, etc. These events will involve physical participation, walking the streets and spreading the word in person.
ROLES:

- Experience with managing people and events
* Planners
- Schedule events (work directly with team leader)
* Designers
- Create printed flyers, business cards, etc. (printing expenses will be covered)
* General Assistants
- Creative Idea people
- Phone calls, emails, etc.
- Rallying participants for the events
5. RESEARCH (SOCIAL SCIENCE)
This team will be devoted to building a solid case for our park’s preservation from a social science or ‘quality of life’ point of view. We believe there is a valid case to be made why our park, and this particular location, is not suitable to house a 1200 seat multi sport stadium.
Research should include demographics, housing, commerce, economic growth, and geographical data such as roads, rivers, buildings, parks, open space, pollution emission, etc. If you are passionate about maintaining quality of life in our urban neighborhoods, this task would be a perfect fit!
The final analysis should also include alternative, more suitable locations for the proposed stadium.

* Researchers

* Psychologist
- Build a case around the human relationship with environment and neighborhood growth.
* Copywriters
- Compile and organize supporting data
- Formulate a coherent case
6. HISTORIC
This team will be devoted to building a solid case for our park’s preservation from an historic point of view. You do not need to be an historian to contribute, just someone who is passionate about our park’s history with a desire to dig deep and clarify facts.
Some areas of investigation will include the Olmsted ideology (landscape architecture), the Battle of Spanktown and our fallen soldiers, as well as research into the Lenni Lenape Native Americans who once called this area ‘home’.

- Historian, or must be passionate about history
* Legal
- Knowledge in historic NJ law
* Researchers
- Assigned individual tasks by team leader
* Copywriters
- Compile and organize supporting data
- Formulate a coherent case
7. ENVIRONMENTAL / WILDLIFE
This team will be devoted to building a solid case for our park’s preservation from an environmental and wildlife standpoint. We need to determine to what extent this proposed stadium will impact our park’s delicate ecosystem, as well determine the types of wildlife that inhabit our park, their protection status, and the effects this proposed stadium would impose on their livelihood.
We are looking for at least two experts to lead this team otherwise a love for nature, the wildlife, and a desire to research is all you need to join!

- Compile and organize supporting data

8. RESEARCH (ARTIFICIAL TURF)
This team will devote themselves to uncovering the hazardous and dangerous effects of artificial turf, and build a solid case against its use. Angles of attack should include its cost (initial and maintenance), safety, effect on the assessment of surrounding properties, and flooding/impervious coverage.

- Compile and organize supporting data
- Formulate a coherent case
In closing...
As you can see, there is a lot of ground for us to cover.
The truth is this stadium will be built if we don’t take action. From the eyes of our urban power brokers, preservation is generally seen as a barrier to progress. So we must band together. If we can enlighten them that it’s not about being against progress rather pro “smart growth”, therein is our opportunity to save Rahway River Park from its gradual demise.
