SAVE RAF Rivenhall

SAVE RAF Rivenhall
The Issue
Background on this site
Royal Air Force Rivenhall or more simply RAF Rivenhall is a former Royal Air Force station located in Essex, England. The airfield is located approximately 4 miles south-southeast of Braintree; about 40 miles northeast of London Opened in 1942, it was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces.
Operation VARSITY, which took place on 24th March 1945, was the largest Airborne operation ever to be conducted in one day.
It involved the coordinated drop of over 16,000 paratroopers and glider troops from both the British 6th Airborne Division and American 17th Airborne Division across the river Rhine, Germany.
I want to fully restore what is left of RAF Rivenhall which includes:
• Last remaining Nissen huts
• One of the last remaining Battle HQ Command Bunkers in the local area.
Clear the land of overgrowth i.e Overgrown Tree's & stinging nettles.
Turn it in to an area that everyone can enjoy learning history of the local area they live in or for those who want to learn & have a great time, Music, dances, Cafe & Museum.
This site has been sitting derelict for just over 40 years & i think its time to restore and to get whats left back to its natural beauty, just think of all the cool things that could be done here.
Everytime i come here i notice another section decaying even more due to not being looked after, this is an absolute gold mine, thus i conclude that this place once done up would make a great place to do Cub/scout sleep overs, weddings, parties & anything else you can think off, wish the farmer would think like this & not let it fade away to only be read about in the History books, yes it would probably take about 8 months to do up with a lot of man power but it would be worth it.
