Save Quinton Township’s Rural Character and Oppose Warehouse Development
The Issue
This petition seeks to rezone the property at Block 12 Lot 34 on Salem-Quinton Rd./ Rt. 49 in Quinton Township. There is currently a proposal to build a 160,000 square foot warehouse on the site. The reasons for opposition to this project are as follows; ruining the rural character of our community, increased traffic-especially semi truck traffic, poorly maintained and overburdened roadways, the close proximity of this industrial building to existing homes, water drainage issues and environmental concerns such as destruction of wildlife habitat and the fact this large industrial building will not be serviced by a sewer system, but instead will dump into a septic system with field lines covering a large portion of the land. The proposed construction is completely at odds with the Township’s stated goals for the community within the Master Plan. We seek to have the property rezoned from the current LI/O (light industrial/office) to a more appropriate P-BR (residential) that would still allow multiple uses.
