The pupils studying A-levels at Queen Alexandra college (run by tyne coast college) were told, 6 days before their 1st year exams, that the college is not financially viable and not to come back next year. The college has said it has been in financial decline for 3 years, however, there was no mention of this in any financial statement or audit from the last 2 years and no parent or pupil was told this upon enrollment. The part of the college doing all other non A level courses is to remain! These pupils are the generation who missed a year of school due to covid and now are being told to find another college, some may have to repeat a year and some may not get places.
