Over 14,000 signatures -- incredible!
We have real power here and it’s time to take action.
We have just a short time to make an impact -- and it will only work if we all work together.
Today, we are kicking off a Week of Action. We need you to commit.
Each action will take just a few minutes, and if thousands of us participate, we’ll create a groundswell impossible to ignore.
Alright, let’s get to work!
Here is today’s action:
Go straight to the source.
New England Development made this decision, and New England Development can change it. We need them to show up to work tomorrow morning and find your emails in their inboxes.
Please send an email now to these four addresses:
- Stephen Karp, Chairman, CEO: skarp@NEDevelopment.com
- Douglass Karp, Vice Chairman: dkarp@NEDevelopment.com
- Steven Fischman, President: sfischman@NEDevelopment.com
- Chris Skiba, General Manager: cskiba@NewburyportDev.com
One email to all four addresses is fine, or send emails to each individually -- either works!
What to say?
Ideally, write from your heart! Share what the Roasters means to you and what the loss would mean to the community.
Include a pledge to boycott the planned restaurant.
Short on time?
Feel free to copy-paste this example, and make a few edits to personalize it:
Mr. Karp, Mr. Fischman, Mr. Karp, and Mr. Skiba:
I plead with you to reconsider your decision to close Plum Island Coffee Roasters. Our community needs places to gather and PICR is one of those special places -- treasured across generations.
I am one of thousands heartbroken by this decision.
I challenge you to live up to the promises you make on your website: "We’re invested in the communities of which we are a part, and we take an all-inclusive approach to development. From the outset, we seek input from community leaders, and partner with state and city entities, neighbors, residents, and tenants."
The input from the community is clear: We will not sit by and watch as New England Development shutters an iconic and thriving local business. If you proceed with the decision to close the Roasters, I pledge to never enter the business you replace it with.
We’re all in this together, and it’s time for you to hear us.
Please, let the Roasters stay.

THANK YOU!
This effort is stronger with you and nothing without you.
This is our chance -- let’s make our voices heard.
That’s all for today!
Keep up the social media activity and stay tuned for Action #2.
