Lauren is transparent about her past experiences with extreme dieting and that she previously faced struggles with her own relationship with food. Lauren states in a previous social media post that, she used to follow strict rules & diets in order to keep her numbers within an extremely tight range, and if she indulged, she would end up with blood sugars all over the place.

What Lauren is explaining here is the classic, all-or-nothing mindset that people with diabetes often succumb to when navigating life with diabetes. This mentality is often why people with diabetes are twice as likely as the average person in developing an eating disorder.

Yet...knowing first-hand the slippery slope that people with diabetes have to navigate when it comes to their relationship with food, Lauren created the Blood Sugar Reset which is a 7-day program aimed to help you "develop a healthy relationship with food."

But, how can someone develop a healthful relationship with food when it is coming from a place of restriction? In addition, Lauren is once again not qualified to be telling individuals with diabetes what "foods to eat" and "foods to avoid."

Just because someone has had success with managing their diabetes following a particular diet or lifestyle- doesn't make it necessary nor appropriate for all people living with diabetes.

This type of anecdotal education and resources coming from someone who isn't qualified to be giving this advice is highly concerning and dangerous for people living with diabetes.
