Save Penn State DuBois Campus – We Are Small But Mighty!
On February 25, 2025, Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi released a statement indicating that the Penn State DuBois campus is one of twelve branch campuses that are being considered for closure in 2027 due to declining enrollments and projected area population decreases.
The DuBois campus has provided access to a college education for residents in the DuBois area since 1935 when it was known as the “DuBois Undergraduate Center.” While the advantages of having the college here are immeasurable, here are just some of the unique benefits:
-service areas include Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, and McKean Counties
-currently considered a growth campus with a recent 10% enrollment increase
-has one of the highest retention rates among the branch campuses
-offers distinctive degrees in Wildlife Technology, Engineering, Occupational Therapy, Information Sciences and Technology, Business and more
-the Continuing & Community Education department offers training programs and certifications for die setting, AutoCad, sign language, nursing home administrator among others and are planning to offer a practical nursing program starting in August 2025
-has the third largest NCPA Launchbox in the Invent Penn State system which offers support and resources for local entrepreneurs who want to build their own businesses and supports regional industry with research and development
-the NCPA Launchbox recently launched the Industry 4.0 Academy initiative that gives hands-on experience to high school seniors looking for career opportunities in advanced manufacturing and technology
-is considered an economic powerhouse contributing over $25 million dollars yearly to the Pennsylvania economy
-offers a dual enrollment program (expanding next year) with the local high school to provide seniors with college credits before graduation
-offers affordable education to regional students who cannot afford room and board and need to stay close to home.
Now is the time to show support for Penn State DuBois by urging Penn State leadership to invest in the campus for current and future generations! Please sign this petition to help keep this campus in our community. I am also asking you to reach out to local and state representatives to voice your support. We Are…Small But Mighty!
