Parramatta War Memorial Swimming Pool has been at the heart of our community since 1959. The State Governments plans to demolish the pool to make way for a larger football stadium. We believe that the Stadium Architects and the State Government need to alter the plans as there other options on the land available to allow the Swimming Pool and the Stadium to continue to co-exist. We are calling on Premier Gladys Berejiklian to allow genuine and transparent consultation on the design of the new stadium so it does not impact a vital community facility. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/parramatta/parramatta-pool-will-be-moved-to-make-way-for-the-redevelopment-of-pirtek-stadium/news-story/b55d014e281c070cfaa6bddd22ab9fd3 We are seeking Premier Gladys Berejiklian to PRESS PAUSE on the current proposal to expand Pirtek Football Stadium on top of the Parramatta War Memorial Swimming Pool. This is a vital community facility that has a 10 lane 50m Olympic Standard Pool, a diving tower, caters for water polo tournaments as well as two baby pools and two water slides. The Parramatta pool is a healthy affordable outdoor environment to keep our population in the greater west fit for the future! We urge to state government to make the designs for the new stadium precinct available for genuine transparent community and stakeholder consultation so that the closure of the Parramatta Pool does not happen. These two vital community assets that CAN continue to co-exist if some time and thought is put into the future for ALL our community instead of taking the quick bulldozer option. This pool is vital to the people of greater western Sydney and should remain an accessible facility for everyone to enjoy as per the use of the crown reserve land it occupies as part of the Parramatta Park Trust Act.
