Save Panchkula Golf Course and Surrounding Environment

Save Panchkula Golf Course and Surrounding Environment
The Issue
Dear Honorable Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari,
Subject: Request for Marginal Realignment of Proposed Bypass to Protect Panchkula Golf Course
I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing concern regarding the proposed road project from Old Panchkula to Mohali Airport, aimed at bypassing the congested area of Zirakpur. While we appreciate the initiative to ease traffic congestion, the current alignment poses a significant threat to the Panchkula Golf Course. An oasis for our aged senior citizens of all hues, Retired Bureaucrats, Service veterans, Businessmen, Citizens , who collectively also nurture budding golfers including ones from economically weaker sections.
Though Golf is considered as Elite sport, _however the Golf course per se happens to be the "Lungs" by virtue of the greenery and trees nurtured so lovingly over the years, to whole of Panchkula and surrounding area as no concrete structure allowed.
The proposed road will adversely affect cutting of trees and destroying existing lush green fairways and carefully nurtured putting greens which will have to be concretized , though a slightly thoughtful attitude can save or limit the damage to greenery .
The present alignment would result in reducing the 18-hole course to 14 or 15 holes, causing irreparable damage to the golfing community and ecosystem. The course holds many a International and National PGA tour events which then will be compromised.
In light of this, we respectfully request a marginal realignment of the proposed bypass to safeguard the integrity of the Panchkula Golf Course. We believe this adjustment would strike a balance between addressing traffic congestion and preserving the golf course.
As the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, your leadership has been instrumental in driving infrastructure development. We are confident that your intervention will help find a solution that benefits both the community and the environment.
Thank you for considering our request.
Sincerely,
Panchkula Citizens and Golf Club members
