Tree Rally & Call to Action @ City Hall on Sept. 8

Eva RodriguezWhittier, CA, United States
Sep 1, 2026

Please join us at Whittier City Hall on Tuesday, September 8th for an urgent rally to protect our beloved trees. Last week, a leaked audio recording from an invite-only meeting revealed the City Manager, Conal McNamara, and Consultant Michael Baker’s agenda to remove HEALTHY trees in a new Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) that will cost the city $800k.

To learn more and listen to the leaked audio, visit our website www.saveourtreeswhittier.com

This follows the previous city council’s suspension of the Tree Protection Ordinance in November 2025, which gave the City Manger the sole authority to remove any healthy tree without public notice or recourse. The proposed plan is costly and unnecessary because the city already had an ordinance that allowed any unhealthy, diseased, or dying trees to be removed if necessary.

We encourage you all to email the Whittier City Council at ccd@cityofwhittier.org to Reinstate the Tree Protection Ordinance.

Thank you for your continuous support to Save Our Trees! 🌳
