Save our trees from being cut down on Knockfree Avenue

Save our trees from being cut down on Knockfree Avenue
The Issue
Our community in Fairhill, is facing a significant threat to its natural beauty and environmental balance: the proposed removal of 22 trees to make way for a bicycle lane along our beloved Avenue. This avenue, cherished for its picturesque alignment of trees, not only enhances the visual appeal of our neighborhood but also provides a vital environmental benefit, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier ecosystem.
These trees are more than just a part of the scenery; they are an integral component of our community's identity and heritage. The name of our Avenue is derived from these majestic trees, which stand as symbols of our commitment to preserving nature amidst urban development.
Parking on both side all along the road outside tasty snacks and Parochial Hall will be completely removed to facilitate the cycling lane. 4 spaces plus two disabled car spaces will be all that remains.
Moving further along they will remove all 22 trees for the bike lane. When it comes to the school, after the current roundabout on the left from there the whole way to the church there will be 2 and then 1 disabled carspace. Thats it. No set or drop off for any of the 3 schools on the left side. The right side will be given limited spaces bare in mind this is also for residential parking.
We believe planning aswell as communication has been atrocious and we do not want the bike lane to go ahead.
While promoting cycling is a positive and necessary initiative for a sustainable future, it should not come at the cost of eliminating trees that have taken decades to grow and that offer irreplaceable benefits.
Please join us in this vital cause to save our trees. Sign this petition to show your support for preserving the natural beauty and environmental health of our Avenue. Together, we can work towards a solution that serves both our community and the environment.
