Thank YOU! You helped make this happen. Your signatures, your comments, your shares...they said loud and clear, Portland needs to be heard and we will not go away. After many emails, research...and more emails of the petition, signatures, your comments and explaining why we need this bridge and why the people of Portland matter....I received an email today from the PennDOT Bridge Engineer stating that public concerns are important to them and the State Street Bridge will be rehabilitated or replaced!! It doesn't matter how small of a group you are, you just need to find your voice, you just need to not give up. Our residents even filled out surveys that Town Council sent to PennDOT, we all did some praying and I gave you my word I would do my best. We never gave up. Thank you. Every person is a piece of the puzzle and when we all work together to find our place, the end makes sense. The project will not begin immediately, PennDOT has a lot of work to do to prepare but our bridge will be back like it should be! I want to thank PennDOT and the people there that stopped to listen to us, Portland Town Council, Senator Scavello and his Field Representative, Stephen Reider, for their support and guidance, everyone who signed and commented to help us and the residents who pulled through and cared. We CARE. Joining the Portland Town Council was one of the most fulfilling decisions I ever made because I got to show my children how to make a difference. Let this victory make us closer as a town and bring you out of your houses to join us for all the events we work to put on for you. We can be that town that cares about each other and looks out for each other. If we can save a bridge together, who knows what else we can accomplish!
