Thank you everyone who has signed our petition and shown support for STANLEY's Daycare centres.
Over the last few days, the campaign team has been working hard to better understand the proposals affecting STANLEY's and to ensure that families and residents have access to the facts.
We have now:
- Created a central campaign email and coordination team
- Submitted a formal Freedom of Information request asking the Council to publish key documents, including the Early Years Review, Options Appraisal, financial information and childcare sufficiency assessments
- Written to councillors and senior council leaders asking for transparency about the decision-making process and the evidence behind the proposals.
Our position is simple:
Families deserve transparency.
Before any decisions are made about the future of STANLEY's Daycare centres, residents should be able to understand:
- Why these proposals are being considered
- What alternatives have been explored
- How any financial savings have been calculated
- What impact this would have on children, families and staff
- How sufficient childcare places would be guaranteed in the future
This campaign is about protecting high-quality childcare, supporting families and ensuring decisions are made openly and with the best interests of children at heart.
We will continue to provide updates as we received responses and encourage everyone to keep sharing the petition and their personal stories about what STANLEY's means to them.
