Save Our Ship!! The S.S. United States. Don't Sink the Ship of America!!!
The Issue
The Soul of America, LLC (“The SOA”), requests that our federal government intervene to save America's Flag Ship, the S.S. United States.
This Petition is incorporated into the Letter of the SOA, dated March 5, 2025.
This Petition also joins with the main request of the New York Coalition to Save the SS United States, Inc., dated February 10, 2025.
And that is to: Save that Ship!!
Also, with any other letters submitted for that same purpose.
Additional reasons for doing so are noted herein along with a plan.
By way of social media all citizens of America shall be invited to join in this request individually and personally in their capacity as Americans.
By the time President Trump receives this request, the Ship shall be traveling into the Gulf of America.
It will be continuing on with its coastal trek of which America's people are gathering along the entire way.
They are paying homage to her beauty, history, and worldly accomplishments.
These include the Ship completing 400 voyages, steaming over 2,722,840 miles, carrying at least 1,025,840 passengers.
And as of 1999, the Ship became a historical place listed on the National Register Historical Places thereby transforming her into a national landmark.
As of 2014, the world's most authoritative maritime historian, John Maxtone-Graham, confirmed that the Ship's storied seventeen years of impeccable service, coupled with her design and construction, makes her to this day one America's most famous and historic sailing ships.
Even more so, through our federal government's own financial contributions, the Ship was ready to be called upon to serve as a 14,000-man troop carrier in times of war--just as if she were the 14,001st American called upon to do so.
More specifically, through the 29 million dollar investment of the U.S. Navy, Philadelphia's own acclaimed naval architect, William Francis Gibbs, designed and constructed the Ship, and made her capable of speeds up to 45 knots. Only jet travel put an end to her civilian and possible military ocean crossings.
Mr. President, the Ship represents exactly what you are doing for America.
That is: Modern American Discovery; Progress; Patriotism; Productivity; and Preservation.
A review of all relevant federal statutes justifies that the saving of the Ship may very well be within the purview of DOGE, and for the forgoing reasons, this request for review is now made.
In these regards, would it not be more beneficial for America if DOGE—when appropriate--was to make recommendations for the best use of the wasted money that it discovers?
For example, the Signor below appreciates the preliminary indications from DOGE that he or she may receive a $5,000 reimbursement check from the recovered funds.
But to save the Ship, the Signor would gladly consider assigning those funds to any government Agency empowered to save and refurbish the Ship.
But, kindly note DOGE has already uncovered billions—if not trillions—of dollars, which a minuscule amount is already available to Save and Restore the Ship Hence, there should be no need for the People to pay for it again via their reimbursement opportunities.
Perhaps such recommendations can be submitted to Congress's DOGE Subcommittee for consideration and discussion.
Thereafter, a joint Bill of Particulars can be submitted by members of the House and the Senate for proposal, passage, and enactment.
Hence, avoiding the need for an Executive Order.
But because of clear ambiguities within all existing laws pertaining to the sale, refurbishment, and preservation of the S.S. United States, it is clear appropriate authority exists to warrant the issuance of an Executive Order if necessary to prevent the demise of the Ship.
In either circumstance, by way of the SS United States Preservation Act of 1992, H.R.4163–102nd Congress (1991-1992) and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, it is also clear that it is the public policy of the United States to provide federal assistance to convert, preserve, and assure the availability of the ship—itself—for indefinite, long term purposes of becoming a maritime museum comparable to the Statue of Liberty.
There is no doubt that present timing shall ultimately affect any plan for the Ship if it is to be saved.
The most reasonable Plan would be to return the Ship to Philadelphia and Pennsylvania to create a multi-state Job Opportunity that will promote patriotism.
President Trump's experience as a Builder shall, indeed, be key.
The Ship has ties to the area in that her Designer, Mr. Gibbs, is a native resident of Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia.
The Ship's home for the last 29 years has also been in Philadelphia resting within the Delaware River.
Ample riverside area exists in the City's Olde City Section in view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
What a compliment it would be to the legacy of one of America's greatest Founding Fathers and other modern inventors if President Trump could bring the Bridge and the S.S. United States together.
Just imagine the fireworks appearing over such a setup
Adding to the view is the U.S.S. New Jersey Battleship and Museum joining modern naval technology pretty much at the landing location of William Penn and the birthplace of Philadelphia.
As Philadelphia is still a predominantly “Blue Collar” Town, the rebuilding of this Ship will entail the use of many skilled and unskilled labor pools.
In the bigger picture, the Ship can be converted for interests such as Disabled/Homeless/Retired Veteran Housing.
Or, as a Historic part of our City's Seaport Museum in Penn's Landing, Olde City Philadelphia.
In the alternative, because the Ship is the “Queen of the Seas”, perhaps she could be made a monumental museum (above water) in our new Gulf of America? As of March 3, 2025, she is now docked in Alabama along the Gulf.
These Plans can also be a layout model for ships of the S.S. United States' nature so they can be used nationwide to create similar jobs and facilities, and to preserve history rather than to become sunken, man-made reefs for tourist purposes only.
If the S.S. United States is sunk for reef purposes, the only people gaining any benefit from it would be scuba divers.
Again, what is the harm in proposing or to not oppose this Plan to Save the Ship?
It is not too late.
Restoring this Ship can be a Monument to President Trump's Legacy.
As President Ronald Reagan once said: “Tear down that Wall!!!”, the Signor submits to President Trump that he should “Rebuild that Ship”.
Again, by way of President Trump's building experiences and intellect, coupled with the DOGE Review, this Plan is not unreasonable.
Make the Ship and America Great Again.
By preserving our modern history President Trump shall make America better than ever before.
Perhaps Elon Musk said it best on February 20, 2025: [D]o you think you’re be going to be okay if--if the ship of America sinks? Of course not. Like, . . . what I’m doing here, what the president is doing is it’s just long-term thinking. The ship of America must be strong. The ship of America cannot sink. If it sinks, we all sink with it. Id.(HANNITY Interview (FOXNEWS)).
Indeed, the Ship represents America's stepping stone into the future for itself, the world, and the universe.
The Ship's Conservancy was responsible for these inherent duties of keeping the Ship from sinking but failed to do so.
In 1998, even former President Bill Clinton served as a Honorary President of the Conservancy and supported preserving the Ship.
But even the Clintons abandoned her.
Thereafter, the Conservancy was run by further leftist Democrats so why is it reasonable to expect any change otherwise?
The Democrats fleeced the Ship so let's Save her. She is a part of American History.
The foreseeable, planned destruction of her by the left represents them destroying America as a prelude to America's coming Semiquincentennial (250th) Anniversary on July 4, 2026.
The S.S. United States should be a significant part of that celebration.
It is not too late to do so.
In these same regards, The SOA requests that all funding for the Anniversary also be submitted to DOGE for review.
Once commenced, DOGE may very well find that in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, many leftist Democrats who opposed President Trump's reelection are in control and management of all federal funds pertaining to those festivities.
What’s next? Will we let the Democrats sink the Liberty Bell in an Aquarium? Or, the Delaware River? The Signor submits to President Trump, the resounding answer must be, “No”.
