Closing Schools Impacts us ALL in Lake Oswego

The Lake Oswego School Board is planning for the bond coming to your ballot May 2025. The Board received a plan to tear down Lake Grove Elementary and could decide to repurpose Lake Grove Elementary's site for private development, other School District needs (like an administrative building), or a public library.

We are petitioning our School Board to maintain the current location of our 7 elementary schools (Lake Grove, Forest Hills, River Grove, Oak Creek, Hallinan and Palisades World Language Program) in its long range plan. 

Research consistently shows that a community’s overall well-being and localized school performance go hand-in-hand. Let’s keep our excellent schools where they are. Our School Board is capable of creating a financial responsible bond that meets the needs of our schools AND keeps them in place.

Lake Oswego community members, please sign this petition to urge LOSD officials to not close ANY of our current elementary schools for the reasons outlined below.

• Closing schools will require redrawing school boundaries to balance enrollment.
• Repurposing Lake Grove’s site for development will result in a loss of desperately needed field space, resulting in later practice times for families and threatening the existence of girls softball in Lake Oswego.
• Closing schools gives LOSD limited land options and resources for future growth and school repairs. 

Save our schools. Keep our schools where they are. Put students first!
