Yesterday I was invited on to BBC Radio 5 Live following the news story about grey squirrels burying nuts inside car engines.

While the story raised a few smiles, it also opened the door to talk about something far more serious: the disappearance of Britain’s native red squirrels.

During the interview we discussed the key differences between red and grey squirrels, why red squirrels have disappeared from most of England, and why this petition is calling for a 20% woodland set aside to help restore and protect habitat.
