Hello everyone - Marie here, Founder of the Save Our Reds campaign.

You may have seen a Good Morning Britain feature on red squirrels this morning (4 September). Unfortunately, it incorrectly credited Chris Packham as the person who started this campaign!

That simply isn’t true.

I launched this petition on 6 August 2025, and thanks to your support, it has now passed 55,000 signatures in less than a month. That’s a phenomenal, entirely grassroots achievement - and it belongs to you.

Chris Packham kindly signed the petition after I approached him, but he is not the founder and has not been involved in shaping or even sharing this petition!

I’ve recorded a short video message to explain more - and to thank you for standing with me. 👉 https://youtu.be/OzTYteirFUw

I’ve also written a media update to help correct the record and refocus attention on what matters: protecting red squirrels, improving woodland policy, and safeguarding the 20% native set-aside we’re fighting for.

Thank you again for being part of this. The woods remember - and so do we.

Please share the petition link far and wide: www.change.org/save-our-reds

With heartfelt thanks,

Marie
