Save our NJ kids from gas station heroin!

Save our NJ kids from gas station heroin!
The Issue
Please sign this petition to urge NJ law makers to push through the Turner Bill S-301 that would classify the synthetic kratom compound 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) as a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance in New Jersey & ban sales & distribution. These products sit in gas stations, smoke shops, vitamin shops, even our local township deli! They are not being properly regulated with store owners often looking to make a quick profit instead of keeping them out of our children's hands. They are marketed in eye catching packages with fun flavors like strawberry & watermelon in liquid, powder, tablet & gummie versions. THEY CAN BE LETHAL to children & adults!!
Things to know-
* Kratom 7-OH acts like an opioid, is significantly stronger than regular kratom and can be up to 13 times more powerful than morphine, according to the FDA.
*It can be extremely addictive and lead to SEVERE withdrawal symptoms similar to heroin & fentanyl.
*It can cause dangerous side effects including slowed breathing and OVERDOSE.
*It does not show up on tox screens unless specifically part of panel. It will be missed in home, hospital & court drug tests!!
*The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has strongly advised against using 7-OH products. In July 2025, they formally recommended that all 7-OH products be restricted (and potentially banned) due to their “potential for abuse,” issuing a letter to healthcare providers and sending formal warnings to 7-OH distributors.
*Many states have already banned or have legislation pending to classify isolated/concentrated Kratom 7-OH products as Schedule I controlled dangerous substance.
I know from personal experience the adolescent substance abuse treatment system in this state is BROKEN!! NJ does not have the resources or help available to treat an epidemic of users. Hospitals will not detox, there is a lack of treatment facilities & rehab options that often have long wait lists & shortage of quality staff members.
