Dear Supporters of Save Our Schools,
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for each and every one of you. Because of your voices, your energy, your commitment, and your willingness to show up — our neighborhoods have won a vital victory: the Eau Claire Area School District is no longer considering the closure or consolidation of several elementary schools.
This is a huge win, not just for our neighborhood schools, but for our children, our families, and the future of our community. Your rallying, your petitions, and your stories made it clear: we will not stand by while our schools were at risk.
But this isn’t the end of the road.
The challenges that brought us here, declining enrollment, budget pressures, and long-term planning, are still very real. The district has said it will continue exploring options like boundary changes and repurposing early learning centers.
So what now? Here’s where we go from here, together:
- Stay engaged. Continue coming to school board meetings, sharing your stories, and holding our leaders accountable.
- Tell your story. We all know why these neighborhood schools matter — walkability, community, equity, stability. Keep sharing those reasons with your friends, neighbors, and decision-makers.
- Build for the future. Let’s push for long-term solutions that not only preserve our schools, but strengthen them: smart investments, transparent planning, and community-driven leadership.
- Support one another. This movement isn’t just about closing or not closing buildings, it’s about standing up for our children’s right to a neighborhood school that supports them and our community.
From the bottom of our hearts: thank you. Because of you, our schools remain open. Because of you, our children’s voices were heard. And because of you, we will continue fighting. We will always stand up for our children, today, tomorrow, and for every generation to come.
In solidarity and with gratitude,
The Families of Flynn, Longfellow, and Roosevelt Elementary
