Save Our Neighborhood Schools

The Issue

We, the parents, families, neighbors, and community members of Eau Claire, stand united in asking you to protect and preserve our neighborhood schools.

Closing or repurposing schools like Flynn, Longfellow, and Roosevelt would not only disrupt our children’s education, it would harm the very fabric of our community.

Why this matters:

  • Children thrive in smaller, neighborhood schools. Local schools foster strong teacher-student relationships, a sense of belonging, and safe, walkable access for families.

  • Closing schools strains other classrooms. Larger class sizes reduce individualized attention and make learning more difficult for all students.

  • Neighborhood schools anchor our community. They bring families together, support property values, and ensure that Eau Claire remains a vibrant, welcoming place to live.

  • Equity matters. Repurposing neighborhood schools disproportionately impacts working families, low-income households, and those without reliable transportation.

Our request:

We urge the Eau Claire Area School District to:

  • Keep neighborhood schools open and commit to maintaining small, community-based schools.

  • Explore alternative solutions to budget challenges, such as reviewing administrative costs, pursuing additional funding, and engaging the community in creative problem-solving.

  • Prioritize student well-being and community impact in every decision.

Together, we can make a difference

We ask every parent, neighbor, alum, and community member who values strong local schools to sign this petition and send a clear message: Our children deserve stability, equity, and thriving neighborhood schools.

Please sign and share to protect the future of our children and our community.
