The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has taken action against an invasive species known as flowering rush in the vicinity of Lake Pend Oreille. Their approach involves the use of Glyphosate, which is the active ingredient in Roundup®, along with several other chemical agents. However, it's crucial to examine the implications of this ten-year plan on our community and the environment.

Glyphosate, a well-documented carcinogen, has been associated with a spectrum of health issues. These include liver and kidney damage, reproductive and developmental complications, neurotoxic effects, and the depletion of Manganese levels. Low Manganese levels have been linked to various conditions such as autism, Alzheimer's disease, depression, anxiety syndrome, Parkinson's disease, prion diseases, diabetes, and heart disease. Additionally, there is evidence suggesting that Glyphosate residue in children may lead to later liver and metabolic problems.

The consequences of allowing this plan to proceed extend beyond those who swim in the lake. It affects our families, with a particular concern for our children, as well as our wildlife, plant life, avian species, and the aquatic ecosystem, including fish that may be exposed to this harmful and potentially fatal chemical.

The urgency of the situation cannot be understated. It is imperative that we take action now to prevent the further spread of this poison. Will you stand with us to protect your community, your family, and the precious wildlife that call this area home?

We invite you to join us and add your voice to our cause by signing this petition. Together, we can make a difference and put a stop to the use of Glyphosate in our region.

You can call these people in the Army corp to voice your concerns and protest:
