Save Our Green Belt

The Issue

We, the residents of Goffs Oak, call upon the Government to review the implementation of the Grey Belt policy and ensure that communities such as ours are protected from unsustainable overdevelopment.

We recognise the importance of delivering new homes to meet the national housing needs. However, development must be balanced, infrastructure led and sensitive to the environment, social and rural character of established communities.

Goffs Oak is already experiencing significant pressure on schools, healthcare services, public transport and other essential infrastructure.

Quite simply Goffs Oak has had enough!!!!

We therefore urge the government to:

Review the application of the Grey Belt policy to ensure it does not result in inappropriate or excessive development in established rural areas.

Ensure that decisions on new development are supported by clear evidence of infrastructure capacity.

Protect valuable green spaces, agricultural land, biodiversity and the distinctive rural character of villages such as Goffs Oak.

Ensure that local communities are meaningfully heard during the planning process and that their views are given appropriate consideration.

Require environmental, transport and infrastructure assessments before major developments are approved.
