SAVE OUR DESERT TRAILS– OPPOSE WEMO CLOSURES

SAVE OUR DESERT TRAILS– OPPOSE WEMO CLOSURES
The Issue
The West Mojave Desert is a vital recreational, cultural, and economic resource for our communities. Thousands of families, small businesses, and volunteers rely on continued access to these lands.
WEMO Closures Threaten:
•Local small businesses and tourism revenue
•Family recreation opportunities
•Access for veterans, seniors, and mobility-limited individuals
•Historic and cultural routes
•Volunteer stewardship and clean-up efforts
•Outdoor education and youth programs
We Support:
•Responsible recreation
•Balanced land management
•Collaboration between agencies and recreation groups
•Science-based, transparent decision-making
•Keeping public lands open for the people — not from the people
Following the recent federal court order that could result in the closure of significant portions of the Western Mojave (WEMO) OHV route network, immediate action is needed to defend responsible access and protect rural communities that depend on OHV recreation. The off-road recreation community must now pursue long-term solutions to address the regulatory framework driving repeated access challenges.
Ecologic Partners, a coalition of national and state OHV advocacy organizations, in preparing a formal request to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to revisit and redraw the existing desert tortoise critical habitat designation. This effort is intended to ensure conservation decisions reflect current science while reducing unnecessary economic harm to communities such as Randsburg and surrounding desert towns. The process will require significant technical, legal, and economic analysis over the next 12–18 months, and contributions made will directly support this coordinated effort.
Please contribute to this important effort. Your donation will help fund the scientific analysis, legal preparation, and policy work necessary to pursue meaningful, lasting solutions. Every contribution strengthens the off-road recreation community’s ability to defend responsible access and protect the future of OHV recreation in the Western Mojave region.
Public lands belong to ALL Americans.
Keep our trails open.... PLEASE MAKE ANY DONATION TO THE ORGANIZATION OF YOUR CHOICE. THANK YOU.
