Save our car park and access from Russell Homes!

The Issue

Russell Homes plan to bury our car park!

Please take a few minutes to read this, it may be considered a little long but it tells our story and plight.

Please help us keep our car park and access. Let Russell Homes and other developers know they should be considerate and ethical to the existing community in their decisions by signing this petition.

Eyres pit, owned by Northwich Anglers Association (NAA) has for over 30 years only provided car parking and easement from a single area at the south end of the pit. This area allows for safe parking and safe drop off for members of all ages, including the elderly and members with limited capabilities. NAA do not own any surrounding land to the pit making safe parking and access from elsewhere impossible. This makes this small car park extremely important to NAA and all who use Eyres pit.

Recently, the car park has been abruptly closed to NAA members by Russell Homes making access far more difficult or potentially impossible for members with limited capability, and potentially more dangerous to both members and possibly other road users alike. Members have been forced to park elsewhere, such as the lay-by at Neumann’s Flashes meaning members will most likely have to cross a busy main road to gain access to Eyres pit.

It's now looking like Russell Homes will deny NAA and its many members, young and elderly alike this small, age old parking area without compromise, negotiation or empathy permanently. Such is it's importance, NAA have even offered to purchase this small area of land without success. NAA feel this move especially unethical as Russell Homes chose to rework this car park area, initially for shared use (NAA / Russell Homes) and lead NAA to believe that this area would be left for the association to use once they had finished with it. In essence, they gave the car park area to NAA and then without any real notice took it back to bury it with rubbish and soil. The elderly and members with limited capability will be the ones who pay the biggest price for this.

NAA has been a part of the local community since 1913 and the unethical way Russell Homes conduct business has, with no reasonable notice left NAA without this long standing facility and no way of obtaining practical, alternative safe parking that also doesn't impose on others. NAA can't stress enough how serious this underhanded act by Russell Homes is for the association.

Are Russell Homes planning to stop easement to NAA land altogether?

Please help us keep our car park and access. Let Russell Homes and other developers know they should be considerate and ethical to the existing community in their decisions by signing this petition.

Thank you for your time and help.
