Little Ones Microsanctuary is a self funded animal sanctuary in Co. Cork, Ireland. We are in a semi rural area where our sanctuary is located roadside, exposed, where traffic passing is, typically, minimal.

Our microsanctuary was started ten years ago where we have worked to help those in need of a safe, peaceful home. Despite being small in size, we have used our resources and transformed the space we have to care for individuals who were dumped, rehomed to us and adopted. We have over the years, as individuals, been supported by The Microsanctuary Movement.

There is a proposed Industrial sized Anaerobic Digester Biogas Plant being planned, across from where our sanctuary residents live, by the companies CPPIB (Canada Pension Investment Group) and Nephin Renewable Gas.

A site that was once a farm for pigs who lived in horrific conditions. The proposed plan, if successful in planning permission, will jeopardise our sanctuary and the welfare of our sanctuary residents.

Our sanctuary residents welfare and well-being will be negatively impacted with increased traffic within the area, light pollution, emissions from the construction and daily production of the plant:

•Max. 24 movements (12 in,12 out) Heavy Good Vehicles will enter the site, including operation hours on Saturdays bringing in feedstock that is animal agri centric.

•There is also the new proposed road construction, as a new entry: access from another road.

• Probable laying of a gas pipe line outside our sanctuary boundary, as the biogas injected into the national grid - and the road is seen as the most viable option.

•The industrial site will emit light pollution that will affect our sanctuary and wildlife (nocturnal animals such as Barn Owls and Bats who frequent the area) and flora. There is no light pollution at the site currently, where above our sanctuary the milky way can be seen on clear nights.

•Traffic emissions, noise emissions, biomethane emissions, digestate odour and more will affect both sanctuary residents and us as the prevailing winds blow directly onto us

The planning application is imminent and we need the support to submit with our objections.

We are, regrettably, unable to relocate and re-establish our sanctuary and therefore, our only option is to fight on behalf of our sanctuary residents - present and future.

Please help us.
