Save Our Amnesty Bookshop
The Issue
Save Our Amnesty Bookshop
Please help save our much-loved Amnesty bookshop in Kentish Town, under immediate threat of closing its doors for good.
We provide great value second-hand books of all types, generously donated from people who come from near and far to donate to us, as well as Amnesty products, high quality greetings cards and gifts. And we’re so much more than that – we’re a place where many members of our community come for a chat and to feel less isolated.
The bookshop opened in 2019, serving North London and beyond and has gone from strength to strength since the end of the pandemic. It’s a valuable presence for Amnesty on the high street, helping to support and give visibility to the human rights work of the charity and recruit more members and supporters.
The proposed closure, based largely on the grounds of estimated overhead costs, has failed to take account of alternative cost saving options, accurate sales projections or the community benefit of the shop to Amnesty.
We are given less than six weeks to change Amnesty’s mind. You can help us make these weeks count.
Please sign today to show your support and to keep the Bookshop going for everyone.
