SAVE OPEN WATER SWIMMING AT THE 2032 BRISBANE OLYMPICS
The Issue
Reports have emerged that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is considering axing the Open Water swimming event from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic program.
The IOC plans to reduce the number of sports at the Brisbane Games from its current record level of 36 on the LA 2028 schedule.
Historically it remains an original modern Olympic event dating back to 1896 when the swimming events were held in the Mediterranean.
Open Water swimming also has the added benefit of having one of the lowest environmental impact footprints of any Olympic sport.
The sport also continues to grow in participation numbers worldwide as an aquatics version of running a marathon.
Show your support to let the IOC know Open Water Swimming needs to remain in the Olympic Games program.
