Dear Old School RetroCast Facebook Page Friends, Fans and Followers -

Today, out of the blue, Facebook has threatened to remove our nine year old '60s/'70s/'80s retro/vintage entertainment page, permanently.

Our free Facebook page was started in 2014 with the idea of helping the older generation with memory loss and dementia/Alzheimer's and to provide free entertainment video clips and photo albums of yesteryear to help those also going through a rough time, i.e. loss of a loved one, difficulties in life, and simply to share good memories with other FB friends.  Just a page of memories of days gone by, a page to bring a smile to everyone's face no matter who they are, young or old, and particularly those who may be stuck at home for disability/medical reasons... a page to just remember the good times they use to have in life.

Our retro posts, photo albums and reels, are absolutely no different, than any other pages you still see on Facebook, particularly Instagram (owned by FB/META) TikTok and YouTube.  In fact, we get most of our content from INSTAGRAM posts from pages there. We also support other FB pages by sharing their posts to our own page. Most page owners do NOT do this for money, in fact, very few vintage/retro pages have ever made anything on this kind of social media entertainment.  We have never made a penny from doing this and never tried to. We have told Facebook this many times we don't care about monetization policy, we never asked nor expected to be paid for any of it. 

Fast forward from the page beginning Dec. 2014, to Mar. 2023 and we are 615,000 organic followers strong and they now threaten to take our page down... no threat before 2022. Why the sudden change? 

We have been officially notified via a cold, short email from Meta, with no detailed explanation given, that our page will, indeed, be taken down by Facebook very soon.  We would like to FIGHT this via a lawsuit by retaining a good attorney, a NOTABLE attorney, one who knows how to take this issue to major media outlets for more exposure and a full investigation as to why they are attempting to strong-arm pages like ours, into purchasing/boosting our own free posts. 'Or else' be removed from Facebook. They push the "boost" this video post or "boost" this reel consistently, constantly and relentlessly. The same posts they want to remove our page for - Why is that? 

OTHER pages on Facebook are currently facing the same threats, maybe you've seen other pages complain about it as well by now... we read it and hear it all the time via other page's posts and we have been written by other page admin/owners asking us if we were experiencing this problem.  

Old School RetroCast wants to stop this dirty tactic by Meta/FB or at least make people aware of it and make a bold statement, now, to help us keep our page and, in essence, other pages alive and well on Facebook in the future. 

Another issue we want fully investigated:

We keep receiving removal of post warnings by so-called RUSSIAN pages - TO WHICH, Facebook currently ALLOWS to claim our video clips (and the money that goes with it, from OUR member count views.)  Bottomline Meta appears, from an outside/stranger standpoint, to be paying Russian pages (if those pages are indeed real) to monetize the content from MY American page. I completely understand if the content and copyright is found to be from Russia, but after 9 years, we have done deep research and find Looney Tunes nor Pink Panther cartoons, for example, have NOTHING to do with Russia. So why then does FB allow a Russian Page to claim our posts for money?   We have saved every email and warning on and off FB in screenshot and file form to show this for proof to anyone who wants to see it. FB has ignored our emails regarding this issue and in fact, now that we have mentioned it to them, they are threatening to take our page down. WHY exactly? 

FB/META - Explain please:

How numerous so-called 'Russian' FB pages can suddenly, out of the blue this past year, legally own ANYTHING to do with example... a classic Looney Tunes cartoon clip from the 1950s or an '80s movie or TV montage (to which there are several American films or TV shows with one, partial, American tune playing in the background or worse, music we used from Facebook's own "sound collection" that was supposedly copyright free?) Please tell us how a "Russian" Facebook page can claim ownership and take the monetization from us of a classic Pink Panther cartoon CLIP?  We have the proof, to cover our buns just like FB will attempt to do to us. We have been gathering evidence as they have been threatening us the past year. 

Why did it take Facebook/Meta NINE (9) years to begin threatening our page when we have posted and reposted the same videos and photos the past 9 years? Some of which are shared posts from other FB pages. Are those older FB Pages also being threatened now? We'd really love other pages to let us know. We will gladly partner with you in attempting to hire an attorney for full-on class action lawsuit against them, feel free to email or call us if you have had the same problem recently.

We not only want to fight FB from removing our page with false allegations against us - but we also want to have this "Russian" page issue fully investigated. Something is VERY suspicious there and no one wants to address it, esp. the numerous emails and feedback we've sent to Facebook with no response, whatsoever.

The last straw was their email, today, threatening to remove our entire nine (9) year old page, permanently. 

We need signatures/petition of at least 250,000 people to provide to META, in order to help fight for our page and keep it from being shutdown. 

We also ask for and need donations in order to hire a superb attorney for this battle against the little people (our page.)  Any amount in donation will help us significantly, in preparing a valid case for battle.

Please share this petition with anyone and everyone, if you care about our page. This potential lawsuit can also help other existing Facebook pages in the future from being wrongly removed by FB/Meta. 

Our page has NEVER been about making money.  We're not going to just let them remove all of our hard, decade long work, without some sort of a battle and we will continue trying until we succeed.

If we go down, fine... but we'd like to at least attempt to try and fight the good fight. This takes signatures and donations to hire a team of attorneys.

We hope to continue helping those with memory loss through our retro/vintage posts as well as getting people through rough times and reminiscing with hopefully, good memories of days gone by.
