SAVE OCEAN DRIVE - Miami Beach - No need for donation
The Issue
As residents of Miami Beach, FL, USA, we deeply care about the quality of life of our community. We believe that a revised traffic plan can significantly improve the current congestion issues and enhance overall accessibility for everyone. Our proposal is to establish a northern traffic direction from 5th to 13th Street. This change would capitalize on 5th Street being one of the main entrances to Miami Beach and could directly connect traffic from 5th to Ocean Drive in a northern direction. This would effectively alleviate current traffic congestion on Collins and Washington Avenue.
Furthermore, we propose that Ocean Drive from 15th to 13th be open ONE WAY in a southern traffic direction. This adjustment would organically restrict traffic at the northern end.
While Ocean Drive from 5th to 15th is not officially recognized as a World Heritage Site (WHS), we firmly believe it holds such status in spirit due its unique cultural significance not just for locals but also for visitors around the world.
According to data from Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Miami-Dade County has some of the highest numbers of vehicle miles traveled per day in Florida - over 58 million miles daily as per recent reports. These changes could potentially streamline flow and reduce congestion.
We urge all residents or lovers of our beautiful Ocean Drive to support this petition so that together we can make our community more accessible while preserving its heritage value. Please sign this petition today!
