Save Northfield Library

Save Northfield Library
The Issue
Birmingham City Council is under enormous financial pressure right now and will have to make some very difficult cuts. It has been reported that libraries across the city are under threat.
All libraries provide an essential service to the community beyond lending books. They help people of all ages to learn, study, and develop, but particularly children and those without internet access. They can also be a space for community groups, and they often a shelter for those who need a peaceful space to rest.
Of the 35 community libraries in Birmingham, Northfield is ranked 14th by estimated footfall, has the 6th highest membership, and the 6th highest number of books lent and relent.
It is a thriving, successful library, and a valuable community asset. If libraries need to modernise, it could be adapted more easily than others due to its high membership and footfall.
We believe that Northfield Library should be saved.
