Save NMS

The Issue

We, the students of Neerja Modi School (NMS), oppose and condemn the decision made by CBSE to withdraw the school’s affiliation.

The decision to impose the most extreme penalty available reflects a serious failure of proportionality and judgment. This action unjustly punishes students who had no role in these lapses.

We, the students, saw that in the immediate aftermath of the incident, the school administration took swift, visible and substantive measures to address safety concerns. These actions demonstrate institutional accountability and a clear commitment towards student welfare. CBSE’s refusal to acknowledge these corrective efforts raises concerns about whether the objective is reform and student safety, or punitive symbolism.

Neerja Modi School is not a just an academic institution, it is the foundation of our educational, social, and personal development. By withdrawing affiliation, CBSE has placed hundreds of students in academic uncertainty, jeopardizing years of work done by students in building themselves around the school, removing progress and stability from their life. Such collateral damage is neither justified nor acceptable.

We push that justice for Amaira must be provided fully and without compromise. However, justice cannot be selective and disproportionate. It cannot be achieved by inflicting long-term harm on innocent students who are themselves enjoy a safe and accountable educational environment in the school.

Above that, the basis for this decision appears arbitrary and inconsistent. As many schools within Jaipur continue to operate without meeting the same safety standards that are now being cited against NMS, yet no similar punishment has been given to them. This selective enforcement undermines our trust in CBSE as they are trying to take away our home from us.

We therefore demand that CBSE immediately review and change its decision to strip our school's affiliation and take a proportionate action like giving monitored and conditional affiliation, strict monitoring, or time-bound compliance mandates that ensures safety without pushing our future out of the window and taking away the place we call home.

We, the students of Neerja Modi School, firmly reject this decision and will continue to oppose any action that prioritizes institutional punishment and harms a large majority arbitrarily.
