The Issue

My mom's life has been changed for the better by Luna, a 4-year-old Great Dane who serves as her Emotional Support Animal (ESA). Luna is not just a pet but a vital component of my mom's sobriety journey. My mom struggled with drug addiction for 18 long years but has been clean for nearly 9 years now, largely thanks to Luna's comforting presence. Luna offers her companionship, unconditional love, and emotional support that my mom needs to stay clean and lead a fulfilling life.

However, our world was turned upside down in August 2024, when Luna attacked and killed another dog. My mom took full responsibility. She immediately enrolled Luna in training programs and adhered to all recommendations to prevent any future incidents. Despite her efforts, there was another incident in April 2025. This time, it happened while under the care of my mom’s boyfriend, who ignored established safety protocols. They are wanting to euthanize Luna.

My mom, taking this matter seriously, chose to leave her boyfriend of six years right after the incident to eliminate any future risk. She even moved out to the countryside, minimizing the chance of any unwanted interactions with other dogs. Now, a decision looms that could potentially separate Luna from my mom, a decision that could destabilize her hard-earned sobriety.

Luna is more than just a dog to my mom. She is her lifeline, her guardian, and her constant confidant. Losing Luna could mean losing years of hard work, sobriety, and a stable life. We are asking for your support to allow Luna to continue living with my mom, where they can both thrive safely and peacefully.

Please sign this petition to support my mom and Luna's continued journey together. Your signature can help preserve not just a life but a lifeline of hope, love, and resilience. Thank you for considering this heartfelt plea and for supporting a genuine cause of compassion and healing.
