When reaching out, feel free to remind the district that they need to LISTEN - and, at the very least, get specialists involved in these decisions! You can’t make decisions about specials without specialists involved, and as far as we know, they've have none advising them on these huge decisions involving their dedicated fields (Music, PE or Library). Between this and so many other decisions the district has made and sprung on us without warning in the past year, it’s becoming a system no one wants to be a part of. Our children should not have to live in a world where music and reading and movement don’t matter or exist in public education, where they are strapped to their desks to make sure test scores stay up.
