The Issue

In our cherished community, we are fortunate to coexist with a vibrant tapestry of wildlife. Families here have come to know and love the many animals that inhabit the Montvale area. We’ve even affectionately named some of them: Bob and Betty, our beloved ducks, and their adorable, fuzzy duckling family that moves gracefully through our neighborhood. Each day, we eagerly watch for the falcon, skunks, foxes, salamanders, and other stunning wildlife that make this place their home. This connection to nature is a crucial element of our lives here.

Unfortunately, our oasis of natural beauty is facing a significant challenge. Developers have proposed building 68 homes on 22 acres at 1407 Montvale — a property rich with natural habitats and wildlife activity. If approved, this development could lead to the loss of habitat for countless animals and could deeply affect the character of our community.

The project would likely contribute to overcrowding in already strained schools and increase traffic congestion on our roads. These changes could diminish the quality of life in our neighborhood and disrupt the delicate balance we’ve maintained between urban living and natural beauty.

Statistics show that urban sprawl often leads to displacement of wildlife, increased pollution, and loss of community identity. According to the National Wildlife Federation, unchecked urban development can endanger not only ecosystems but also the communities closely tied to them.

We have the power to make a difference. By encouraging our local leaders to carefully reconsider this project, we can preserve both the wildlife refuge at Montvale and the fabric of our community.

Let us stand together to protect Bob, Betty, and all the wildlife with whom we share this earth. Let us safeguard our schools, ease traffic, and maintain the harmony between people and nature.

Please join us in asking local authorities to deny development permits for this project as currently proposed. Together, we can make a difference.

Your signature is a step toward safeguarding our natural legacy for future generations. Please sign and share this petition widely.
